Goal-setting is a very effective process used to stimulate problem solving and to help in overcoming challenges.
The setting and achieving of goals is not meant to create stress and tension.
Goal-setting is actually a great method to alleviate stress if it’s used in the proper manner. When we use our goals to gain clarity and define our direction.
Unfortunately, many times when we set our goals, we mistakenly think that we need to spend more time working harder, faster and for longer periods of time to get results.
Many times our results are significantly better and more enjoyable when we take a step back and learn to allow things to come to us and enter our lives, rather than forcing them.
We set our goals, define them, take efficient actions each day toward their achievement and ALLOW the things, the people and the opportunities to present themselves as we’re reaching our goals.
When the people and opportunities present themselves, our job is to recognize them, be willing to accept them and to be thankful.
When we are forcing or hurrying, we are demonstrating impatience, a competitive mindset and we demonstrate a lack of faith.
We end up working against ourselves and move away from our goals instead of towards them.
So whenever you feel that you’re trying to force your goals or you feel as though you’re trying too hard, allow yourself to take a step back and re-assess what your main objective is.
Q. How do I know if I’m putting the right amount of energy or effort into something?
A. You’ll know by the way you feel. Remember to think about the essence, the feeling state of that in which you want.
Recognize when you’re not in harmonious agreement or out of balance with what you want and take steps to mitigate this feeling as soon as possible.
Remember, goals are a target to get the things we want, the things we enjoy and appreciate.
Let goal achievement be a pleasurable experience and you’ll find that your results will come sooner and with less effort.
Thank you,
Francis Bills
